Upgrade Computer Memory Only?

I do not only have to buy a new external hard disk. I think I better send my computer to upgrade. I am getting bore with the slow loading speed every time using the Photoshop program. I know it time to upgrade the computer memory already.
I have not made up my mind whether want to upgrade the computer memory only or upgrade all together in one goes. I am worry the loading speed is not what I required after upgraded only the memory. Anyway, I think I better consult my office IT executive and see what his advice is.
People want to charge an arm and a leg to do services for you. I once called a computer technician and asked how much it would be to upgrade my memory on my laptop and he blurted out, “That will be $50 and if I come to the home, that would be $60!”
